ALLEGHANY COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION
NOTICE OF AMENDED HEARING SCHEDULE

The April 2026 meeting of the Alleghany County Board of Education has been changed to Thursday, April 23, 2026.
The meeting will convene at the Administrative Offices of the Alleghany County Schools, 85 Peachtree Street, Sparta, NC 28675, at 4:45 p.m. The Board of Education and the Board of Commissioners will tour the new construction at Alleghany High School, and then meet jointly at the County Administration Building, 348 South Main Street, Sparta, NC 28675, at approximately 5:30 p.m.

April Regular Meeting Date Change Notice

The regularly scheduled April Board Meeting date has been changed. The Regular April meeting will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 5:30 pm. The meeting will be held in the Conference Room of the Alleghany County Board of Education, 85 Peachtree St, Sparta, NC 28675.

Regular Meeting Notice
The Regular May Meeting of the Board of Education will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 5:30 pm.  The meeting will be held in the Conference Room of the Alleghany County Board of Education, located at the Central Office, 85 Peachtree Street, Sparta, NC.

ALLEGHANY COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION
The Board of Education conducts its regular meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Alleghany County Board of Education, located at the Central Office, 85 Peachtree Street, Sparta, NC. A closed session portion of the meeting takes place following the open session.  Any change of meeting dates will be posted on the website, and local news media will be notified.

Special Board meetings are held as necessary and will be announced at least 48 hours in advance on this website. 

Board meetings are conducted for the purpose of carrying out the official business of the school system. The public is cordially invited to attend board meetings to observe the board as it conducts its official business.  Citizens wishing to speak with the Board should contact the Superintendent’s Office at 336-372-4345 one week before the regular Board meeting. In addition, citizens may place an item on the Board agenda by submitting the request in writing to the superintendent’s office no later than ten days before the regular monthly meeting. Please note that matters involving individual students, school personnel, or legal issues cannot be addressed in an open session.
