Meal Prices for 2022-2023

Please keep in mind that no charges are allowed. All families are encouraged to fill out a Free and Reduced Price Meal Application for the new school year as soon as possible. These are available online and can be picked up at the Alleghany County Board of Education office. The applications will also go home with students for the first few days of school and will be available during open house. Students will only be at last school year's status for the first few weeks of school so applications need to be turned in as soon as possible. Students will need to pay for meals until an application is turned in, processed, and a determination of benefits is made. A new application must be submitted every new school year. Substitute positions are available in all schools on an as needed basis.

- Substitutes called in as needed; called in advance when possible
- Paid at an hourly rate
Position Description and Requirements:
- Substitutes will be given minimal training in proper methods per the position they will be filling in for which may include food service, food preparation, dishwashing, etc., through the performance of semi-skilled tasks with the use of various pieces of equipment and proper food handling procedures.
- Previous knowledge and experience in kitchen safety procedures and customer service skills are appreciated
Substitutes will be under the direct supervision of the school’s Cafeteria Manager.

Student Withdrawal
Any student withdrawing or graduating from the Alleghany County School System may make a request for any leftover balance to be paid out to their parent or guardian on record. Small balances can be paid out at the school site at the point of sale register, however, larger balances must be paid out from the School Nutrition Program office and a check will be issued.
