Superintendent Message
I am honored to serve the students, staff, families and community of Alleghany County Schools as Superintendent. I have been an educator for 36 years, the last 26 years in Alleghany County. My educational background consists of a K-8 BA from East Tennessee State University, K-12 Administration and Curriculum Specialists MA from Radford University, and Adult Higher Education EdS from Appalachian State University. I’ve earned my National Boards of Teaching twice and hold certification in English as a Second Language. Being a lifelong learner keeps me abreast of the best educational practices for our students.
I am grateful to work with our dedicated Board of Education, administrators, teachers, classified and support staff as we continue to follow Alleghany County Schools mission to “ be a safe, collaborative, inspirational, and trusting learning community. Partnership and positive relationships will enable all learners to be valued and supported to achieve educational, personal, and societal success today and in the future.” I will apply myself diligently to earn the trust and respect of all stakeholders. We will build upon the existing foundation to maintain safe, and innovative learning environments, increase the achievement levels of all students, expand the knowledge base of all staff, ensure and encourage lifelong learning and problem solving every day.
Working together in unity, we will remain loyal to our purpose, serve our students and community in a magnificent way, influence progress to support our students in successfully achieving and significantly contributing to this global, complex changing world.
